Once in a while I get to visit puppies that we’ve sired. Today I got to visit Jaks golden retriever pups who are six weeks old today. The litter is a full 13 pups. 9 of which are boys. Let’s be honest, that is a lot of boys.

Six Week Old Golden Retriever Pup

The past few months, or even the past year, have been entertaining to say the least. Our family recently got out of the house and went to Legoland. The place is nearly empty due to covid. Once we got back I was then able to visit a litter Jaks sired. The litter of 13 are all a good and healthy size. Often times litters this big you will have small pups or a couple pups that lag behind. All pups were over 7 lbs short of six weeks and within 2 lbs of each other. So I am glad to see such healthy pups.

Often when I get a puppy back from a stud service, I get asked why. So it can be a bit confusing. Instead of the owner of the female paying me for using my stud, I get a first pick puppy. I can choose to keep the puppy, or find a home myself. I do often arrange payment for other other breeders depending on the situation.

In return for Jaks’ stud service this time, I got a puppy. I get to choose first pick and then I can find perfect homes for them. After careful examination I chose a pup for one lucky puppy parent. In the case of this litter, his photos are below. He will be going home in two weeks. He is already spoken for. I specifically chose him because he was inquisitive, alert, not timid, wasn’t the barker, and good size. My eye kept going to him every time. Out of 9 male pups it can be a bit daunting. However, a few things reminded me of Jaks. His body structure and even his head is similar to Jaks. Rarely do I ever get a chance to have this many choices to choose a pup. In any event, hopefully he will have many years of wonderful memories with his family.

Anyway, I thought I would add some photos since I haven’t posted in a while. He is 8.8 lbs as of this past Friday at his recent puppy well check. He was just vaccinated and dewormed. In these strange times, maybe a few photos of a puppy can warm your heart. He didn’t have a bath today, so he will spruce up even nicer soon.
